1. Don't spend all your time scanning pages and pages of job search engine after job search engine (although I have to admit I did this every once in a while). 2. CareerBuilder and other Job search sites usually have advanced search options or the ability to make the same search daily by saving a custom search. It can save you lots of time because besides specifying criteria like "within 15 miles of zip code" you can ALSO EXCLUDE certain companies. This is important because once you start identifying all the scams and other companies you're not interested in, you can include them in a list of who to EXCULDE in your search results. You will be amazed at how this shortens your list of possibilities. 3. On certain days spend time updating your reference letters. I had some letters but they were from 2004 so most agencies and employer's would ask for current letters of recommendation. 4. Spend a day to verify your own past employment and address information. This can be a snafu because if your information is incorrect some employers will set your application aside. Call your past employers and ask for human resources. Simply state that you previously worked there and you need to verify your exact dates of employment. 5. Make sure you have correct address information for your place of residence for the last 7 years. 6. So one of the pieces of advice that we give to people, in terms of their resumes, is to make sure whatever is most marketable and valuable about you is in that top half of your resume.
